CENTENNIAL PLAZA AND AMPHITHEATER 105 N. Main
(432) 682-6234
Centennial Plaza was carefully designed to be a people oriented
park. The tree-lined courtyard is also the home of a 300
seat amphitheater. A cascading water fountain and water
wall provide cool, refreshing relief from the West Texas
sun. The focal point of the Plaza is the 143-foot long,
4 1/2 foot tall sculptured brick wall depicting the history
of Midland. Nearby, on the south Midland Center wall, you'll
find a bronze plaque depicting the rescue of Jessica McClure
from an abandoned water well in October 1987.

YUCCA THEATRE
208 N. Colorado
(432) 682-4111
The Yucca is a nostalgic example of
flamboyant Assyrian-style architecture, featuring gilded
lions, ornate columns, scrollwork and elaborate lighting
fixtures. The exterior is cut sandstone with black marble
columns framing the entrance. Built and designed by Wyatt
C. Hendrick in 1929, the theatre was restored in 1981 and
now houses the mad-cap Summer Mummers. Tours can be arranged
in advance.
